I began sewing at home with my mother and grandmother. I made clothes that I thought were over priced in the stores. Nevertheless, I was always in fashion at a more affordable cost. I graduated from Alcorn State University where I majored in Home Economics in 1982. This is where I honed my skills as a seamstress. However, after graduation I moved to San Antonio, TX where I worked as a fabricator in a company that made curtains for new mobile homes. In 1987 I relocated to Roxie, MS and began working with Flower’s Draperies in Natchez, MS. I was thoroughly trained in the craft of drapery fabrication.
This is where I learned how to measure, estimate, install and create beautiful draperies for some of the finest historical homes in Ole Downtown Natchez, and throughout Mississippi, Louisiana and Arkansas. In 1990 Mr. And Mrs. Flowers released me with their blessings to start my own company. They assured me that they had taught me enough to make my mark in society in the world of making Drapes. In 1991 Mrs. Flowers died and I moved to Gulfport, MS where based my company. Early the next year, my mentor’s husband, Mr. Flowers personally delivered his wife’s personal drawings from over forty years in the business to me.
I felt like the prophet Elisha having the mantel passed on to me, to carry on the business. My company is small and my staff and I personally take pleasure in providing you with the very best service that we can give.
